Ceramic Heart

Language: English

In a dream, I can contemplate you
To discover each expression of your face
I can hear, but cannot touch you
As if a wall separated us

In my dream I can contemplate you
To discover each expression of your face
And I can hear you, but I cannot touch you
I am forever separated from you

And in spite of my indeed too great desire
I will not be able to remove this wall
Because I know well that my heart could split
At the same time as the wall of glass

But if we break this glass, our hearts would then touch
Help me to reduce it to nothing, so as to no longer be your prisoner

My heart is ceramic
Hard, sharpened, and resistant to rust
It breaks as soon as it falls to the ground

There is nothing that I can't acquire
Honors, glory, richness
But there is one thing that cannot be mine
And I wish it with all my heart

I know well how to resist its strength
But you know that my heart exists even if, for you
It is only an object that you cannot charm
As hands you cannot touch

I would like very much to give you my heart
Even if, for you, it's nothing but an object
I am condemned to contemplate you in silence
As through a wall of glass
