Happy 29th Birthday, RPGN!

It's official folks... 29 years ago, the journey began. It was my first week of high school. My school had an after school computer lab where you could use the internet, and I quickly learned that you could create your own website. I spent many hours in that after school lab, often until they locked the door and kicked me out. RPGN started its journey as a free webpage on Geocities back in 1996, originally known as "Locke's Fantasy World", or LFW for short. We evolved many times along the way, migrating to our own server and domain name in early 2000.

My original vision focused around role playing games, as I've always been a big fan of the classic turn-based RPGs from the NES/SNES era. We had screenshots and video clips on the site, including the FMVs from various games (many of which can still be found on our far-outdated YouTube channel). The site originally had a group of fan fiction writers, who would create stories based on characters from the early Final Fantasy games, inserting ourselves into the world and coming up with crazy scenarios. I wish I still had all of those writings to share with you today. As the site shifted it's identity from LFW to RPGN, the topic of focus also shifted to video game music.

Since then, our goal has remained consistent: Sharing and celebrating the love of video game music from all styles of games, and we've done so in multiple ways over the years. I'm happy to see that game music has gained popularity and is much more readily accessible today.

Nearly 3 decades later, we’re still here thanks to YOU—the fans, friends, and fellow adventurers who’ve become part of the story. Thank you for listening, supporting, and sharing the love of game music with us. We shall continue with our ongoing quest to share the best gaming tunes by way of RPGN Radio. Who knows where this journey may take us next...

Special thanks to Katuend for the awesome birthday moogle doodle!
