How to post pictures?

Hey y'all i just can't figure this out. If I have a picture on my computer, how do i get it into my response on a topic. drag and drop does not work. I feel like such an idiot asking this.

you have to upload it to some image hosting website (http://rpgn.lintbox.net/hosting/). then link to it using the tag. for example, i link to my fox pictures in the following format: [img]http://sixty9.servebeer.com/foxyfox.gif

Also, http://imageshack.us/ is a good hosting site if you are in a hurry, and don't have the time to wait for rpgn hosting registartion.

Oh yeah, and of course if your computer is online 24 hours a day you can always host the picture from your machine, but that's a bit more complicated than it sounds. Just use some hosting service.

also bjp if its just a simple picture you wish to post then why not use the 'insert image' option which appears on the posting toolbar at the top all you have to do is enter the URL of the pictura and there you have it.

'Insert picture' is no use if the picture he wants is still in his HD instead of some hosting service.

This is how I was taught by my jerk brother.
Lets try 2 pictures. 1 from a site and one from your HD.
If theres a picture from a site,for example:google image for gihren zsabi.
you right click the picture from the website and go down to properties. A small window will appear for the address were the pic is located on its own server.
Now leave the properties window open or write down the address info.
Go to the forum and to the post and look above at the post tools and look for that small picture that looks like a sunset over Mt.fuji. Click it and a small window will appear asking you to enter url of image. Highlight and drag the address from the properties window or type it in and and press ok

do this for any image you wish to place in a post that is alredy on a site. Some websites will not allow you to use there picture and sometimes protowall needs to be turned off to make it load. But most of them can be used with no prob.

Now for one from your HD. Like kilu,Yojimbo,and Silver said to post private images from your HD you need the image to be hosted on a site so it can be posted like the one above.
There are many sites that do this free. Just google free image hosting and such. I use Photo bucket. Thats the one I will use for example.
I have this pic of a tree on my HD. I login onto Photo Bucket and it asks to browse to insert image from HD. I hit browse and look up the tree and press open then submit on Photo bucket. It now has the picture along with three diffrent choices,Tag,URL,Img
I will use URL. Now I will go back to the Mt.Fuji sunset icon and insert it.

Again I use highlight and draged it to the box and hit ok and presto.
This is just one way. Im sure PC jockeys can do it with a single click and stuff. I use these methods for my sig,if you right click my sig and hit properties you can see the Photobucket address.
